The fifth and final round of the CIV championship was hosted by the MotoGP circuit of Mugello, located in the Tuscan hills it is a world class stage but also brings changeable conditions, especially in the second week of October. This weekend would see the 6th round of the National Trophy be run along side the CIV riders that were fighting for the Supersport and Superbike crowns.
The conditions although being dry, had changed enough compared to the previous weekend (Coppa Italia), with the cooler temperatures bringing changed grip levels to require setup up changes during Fridays practice sessions. The Saturday qualifying sessions were run in wet conditions, the 1st session was a gamble for all the riders as it rained just minutes before pitlane was opened for the riders, meaning the bike setup was not correct for the wet. The second session was run and almost all the riders improved their lap times as they setup their machines and understood the conditions. The ‘Engineer’ would see himself 31st on a very competitive grid from 37 riders.
The race was run as a dry race but the track still had some damp patches so the riders had to be careful on the first lap or two while they understood the conditions. The race was always going to be difficult is such a competitive field but the Yas29 managed to make two good passes and finish the race in 28th position.
